Waite Park officials receive update on strategic planning process

WAITE PARK – Waite Park officials have received an update on the town’s strategic planning process.

During Monday evening’s business session, Perme and Peterson Associates, the consultants hired by the city to lead this process, gave council an update on the work completed so far and what’s to come. .

Cathy Perme says they recently formed a steering committee that will help identify key stakeholders to help in the next phase of the process.

It’s really about bringing community members together, the people who are the movers and shakers from the different stakeholder groups, to come together and say what they want Waite Park to look like.

Perme says the group will be made up of residents, business owners, city employees and other community partners.

She says the overall aim is to bring this group together for a short retreat where they can collaborate to provide information, feedback and direction for the future of Waite Park.

Part of what we’re going to do is ask people what the common ground is. What does everyone seem to want for their community. If we can put all the energy behind what people want and are willing to commit to, you’ll get a lot more progress.

According to the schedule proposed by the consultants, this event would probably take place in April.

From there, input and feedback will guide City Council when it comes to taking action and putting those ideas into motion for the city.
