Next steps in the DEIA strategic planning process

Dear students, teachers and staff:

Thank you to everyone who has engaged with the latest campus initiatives, updates and developments related to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. I am writing to you today to announce new opportunities to participate in the planning process and to offer support resources.

Strategic planning initiative and participation opportunities

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility strategic planning process is ongoing and would not be complete without the additional input of our campus community members. To engage the wider campus community, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion will host several strategic planning town hall sessions throughout April. These virtual sessions will:

  • Present a high-level overview of results and insights from recent campus climate surveys.
  • Provide an overview and timeline of the University’s strategic planning process for diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
  • Allow participants to share their thoughts, ideas and recommendations on what should be considered in the strategic plan.

Discussion sessions are organized by identity, affiliation or area of interest, and additional general sessions are also available. Registration is now open to all students, faculty and staff who wish to participate. All sessions will include live closed captioning via Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART). To request other accommodations, please indicate them when registering or contact the Office of Diversity and Inclusion team at [email protected]

The planning process will culminate in a five-year strategic plan on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility. A draft of the strategic plan will be completed in June 2021. Once approved by University leadership, implementation will begin. The implementation of the strategic plan will add a framework to our current diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility efforts while expanding them to meet University priorities.

Campus Climate Pulse Survey Reports Now Available

The results of the Campus Climate Pulse Survey, conducted by the Center for Leadership in Strategic Diversity and Social Innovation, are now available. We thank everyone who participated in the survey as its results will help inform the strategic planning process for diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.

Please contact us at [email protected] Also, be careful and continue to maintain well-being and safety.

With gratitude and appreciation,
